Dog, Cat or both?
It has been suggested that pet owners love their pets more than their own family members because while they cannot choose their relatives, they can pick their pets.
In various surveys conducted, apart from social, religious and other factors ie. allergies; certain personality traits pre-dispose humans to prefer either cats or dogs. It has been said that people like pets that behave in a way that complements their personalities. How true is this?
While the studies are not 100% scientific, one common finding is that cat people tend to be more pragmatic in their reasons for loving felines; specially in their lower maintenance demands. Basically, cat people like the independence of their pet cats and are known to be more private, sensitive and curious in nature.
Dog people on the other hand, value the close interactions with their pets and embrace their canine companion’s unconditional love and undivided loyalty. Seemingly, they are more extroverted, warm and dominance-oriented.
However, there is yet another group of people who like both dogs and cats and it would appear that the different characteristics of the two species appeal to different parts of their personalities. Apparently, this third group is also more open to liking all kinds of animals too.
So.... are you a dog or cat person? Or you belong to the third group?
Perhaps it doesn’t matter which group you belong to, what’s most important is the ties that binds us - LOVE your pet, your family, spouse, or BFF for a happy and lasting relationship, that is all that matters.
Of course, we would add most emphatically:
Be Kind to Animals and One Another!
